I've written or noted in several articles that rental housing inventory as a percentage of all housing will rise in the coming decade. Dr. Arthur Nelson of the University of Utah recently projected that 50% of all new homes will be rentals. In my opinion, Dr. Nelson is being conservative as demographics suggest an even more dramatic shift.
